Test Instructions
You should have Excel open and a blank spreadsheet visible to do this test.  You should not use notes or books.  Only use Excel and its associated help files.  You should allow a maximum of 5 minutes for this test.


1. How do you turn off automatic calculation for a spreadsheet ?
    You cannot turn off automatic calculation - its built into the spreadsheet / workbook
    Right click on the spreadsheet tab and select MANUAL CALCULATION
    Go to TOOLS - OPTIONS - CALCULATION, Select Manual in the Calculation section
2. What is the keyboard shortcut (button or buttons to be pressed) to Complete a cell entry and move up in the selection ?
    CTRL+TAB        SHIFT+TAB        ALT+TAB        SHIFT+ENTER      CTRL+ENTER     ALT+ENTER
3. Which of the following will allow you to change the spacing of tick marks and labels on the category axis ?  Click on axis and go to:
    FORMAT - SELECTED AXIS - SCALE - Select options required
    FORMAT - CHART - AXIS - SCALE - Select options required
    TOOLS - CHART - OPTIONS - AXIS - Select options required
4. What does the following error mean - #REF! ?
    The #REF! error value occurs when a cell reference is not valid.
    The #REF! error value occurs when a cell contains a number with two decimal separators (points) present.
    The #REF! error value occurs when a cell has been formatted as a currency but contains text.
5. How do you create a hyperlink in text in Excel ?
    Copy URL to clipboard, select the text and go to EDIT - PASTE SPECIAL - PASTE HYPERLINK
    Select the text and go to INSERT - HYPERLINK - Enter URL
    Browse to hyperlink location in Internet Explorer and select Add Favourite, then in Excel select text and go to TOOLS - PASTE URL
